HRS’ innovative Green Stay Initiative (GSI)
Continues to make a remarkable impact – even beyond the managed travel industry. Only 20 months after launch, hotels in 170+ countries representing 440+ brands and hundreds of independent hotels participate in GSI.
In October, Siemens made a landmark announcement, publicly requesting hotels to participate in GSI as part of their effort to earn preferred supplier status. And as we wrap the year in the fourth quarter, the groundbreaking technology won two prestigious awards.
European Mission Awards
The European Mission Awards are presented by Mission, Italy’s leading business travel publication. At a gala in Rome this October, judges honoured the Green Stay Initiative for “allowing corporate travel managers and travelers to select their accommodation based on sustainability scores and pioneering a global hotels sustainability database.”
Poland’s ESG Innovator Awards
Poland’s ESG Innovator Awards range beyond the travel industry, promoting a competition that distinguishes projects for innovation in corporate governance. ESG judges praised GSI for “having a positive impact on the natural environment, the well-being of employees, and the improvement of transparency and corporate governance in organizations.”
Earning this award signifies the rising importance of sustainability across the C-suite, as companies seek automated solutions to help them reduce everyday carbon emissions from all aspects of their business.
A team of HRS employees accepted the ESG Innovator Award at an event in Warsaw on 29 November.
