OBEs were traditionally built for transient stays, meaning that longstay falls outside the logic of standard booking tools. As a result, longstay leakage runs at 21% – nearly double the overall program average of 12%. The root cause is structural, not behavioral. Travel managers cite lack of suitable properties (67%), missing duration-based discounts (65%), and a cumbersome booking process as the primary drivers. Longstay bookings on HRS Connect follow the same end-to-end payment flow as transient – virtual card payment, centralized invoicing, and VAT reclaim included. This is intentional, rather than creating a parallel process, longstay fits within the standardized workflow your finance team already operates. The infrastructure is built to handle what makes extended stays structurally different – higher total values, multiple charges across a single stay, and longer billing periods – without adding friction for travelers, bookers, or finance
