In 2015, the HRS team began working with Google to collate and analyze the company’s worldwide hotel spend. With that math as a starting point, HRS leveraged its local sourcing expertise and rate database to deliver more competitive rates and a revamped hotel strategy in all relevant Google global destinations.
“Given the global scope of our program, we needed a partner with worldwide resources and local expertise in our key cities,” said Darragh Ormsby, global travel manager for Google, who won the Association of Corporate Travel Executive’s new Travel CEO Award in October 2017. “HRS’ hotel data expertise, especially with local benchmark rates, enhanced our intelligence for all hotel supplier negotiations, driving savings and minimizing rate increases on multiple continents.”
Through HRS’ proprietary rate filtering technology, Google manages auditing in real-time, facilitating more effective hotel sourcing and program optimization. The combination of Google’s direction and HRS technology & analytics has released Google travel team members from many traditionally time-consuming tasks associated with hotel procurement, allowing a focus on more strategic initiatives.
